Savita Bhabhi is a Hindi language Indian comic series created by Prashant Rai and distributed by Raj Comics. Its first episode was published on 25 July 2007 on the magazine's website. In total, there have been twenty-five comics as of November 2017, as well as a number of short stories that have been published in other magazines.The manga is about a young woman from India who visits her fiance in New York, only to find out that he has been cheating on her with another woman. On the advice of her mother-in law, Savita decides to marry a much older Himalayan man living in America and gives up looking for love for good. The story also depicts her various adventures with her new family.Savita Bhabhi made its first appearance in the magazine's first issue on 25 July 2007, and there were 19 issues of the serial published between 2007 and 2008. The manga was discontinued in May 2008, but continued under the title "Savita Bhabhi - USA Story" that same year. The name "Savita Bhabhi" was restored for the fourth volume that was released on 8 December 2008. As of November 2017, only 25 volumes of the manga have been released by Raj Comics. It has an average rating of 7/10 on Manga Planet. The manga was licensed by Viz Media in 2010 and released in the United States in 2011.Savita Bhabhi has been adapted into a live-action Hindi film, directed by Shashank Manohar and written by Mihir Bhuta, and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Vyjayanthi Movies. It stars Zareen Khan, who previously appeared in Saachiyanu Bhabhi (2008), Dolly Ki Doli (2010), Dostana (2010) and Kyun! Ho Gaya Na!(2013). Neena Gupta is the only actress from the original lead cast to reprise her role as Savita's mother-in-law. Two books for young children have been published in the series. The first one is a series of comics for children entitled "Savita Bhabhi - Daftar Dost" (2009) which is an English language adaptation of the manga. The second one is a juvenile fiction book entitled "Savita Bhabhi: Amazing kids' Stories" (2009) that features short stories from the manga.
On 25 July 2007, Prashant Rai launched a website for a new comic series titled "Savita Bhabhi". It received a rating of 4 out of 5 stars on the popular blog "Bleeding Cool". The site was subsequently banned by the Indian government on 29 November 2013 after receiving complaints.The Government of India's Press Information Bureau issued a statement noting that the ban was in order to "uphold cultural values, to protect decency in society and for preventing any adverse impact on children". The statement also noted that other comics by Raj Comics, including "Daag", "Chacha Chaudhary", and "Captain Vyom", would be investigated as well. However, these comics remain available online and in print.
